1. First Contact with the Gatori
|
Background
Nell’s Tavern is a farming planet just outside the borders of Caledonian
claimed space. The population is 100,000 hardy souls who have gone to find peace,
quiet and grazing land away from the factitious politics of Caledonian and Latvian ruled
space. There is a weak central government made up of the council of 20. The largest
town is Claymore, the space port. Claymore is a rolling place built around the space
port facilities; were the independents, as they call themselves, bring their farm goods
for off world export. By agreement Nell’s Tavern’s larger neighbors, Caledonia and
Latvia take turns stationing a revenue frigate at Claymore to discourage pirates. There
is a local constabulary that doubles as a militia. On the whole Nell’s Tavern is a
peaceful planet, until now.
Rumors have reached Claymore in the form of a crusty old farmer named Jack
Douglas. Seems his neighbor have up and disappeared from their farms took their
livestock with them. He is now leading the constables back to a farming village called
Oldsted. Our scenario begins with this group.
Setting
Set up four farm houses with a large wood in the northwest corner. Each farm
house has fields, hedges, a barn, and abandon various farm equipment. Put two of these
farms on the right side of a country land and two on the left side. The north 25% of the
table is a thick forest. The militia led by farmer Jack enters the table from the eastern
edge on turn one. The alien player, the Gatori, sets up his force hidden in the farm
houses or barns. They will remain hidden from the human player until they move out
from hiding and attack or a human moves within six inches and attempt to spot. Roll a
d10 for spotting, a roll of 5+ will spot any hidden aliens in the structure. Important do
not forget to play your cards!

Scenario 2
“Oh, My God we’re being invaded!!!!!”
As the militia man rushes into his captain’s office, he gasps “oh, my God we’re
being invaded!!!!” The astonished captain rises and looks out into the outer office. He
sees that no one else has returned from lunch. Stepping around the prostate figure he
calls to the desk sergeant. “Haggis, call the next duty company and get me the major”.
Then turning back to his man he kneels down beside him. Carefully, looking the man
over for wounds, he decides that the man is just blown from his running. The captain
goes over to the first aid kit hanging on the wall and takes it down. He finds the
smelling sauce. One quick wave under the man’s nose and he is reviving. The captain
helps the man to sit up in a chair, then pours a glass of water from the pitcher on his
desk.
“Now Jones, take your time and give me a proper report” he says.
“We came to the farms just like old man Douglas said. Then we were jumped by
these huge animals that walked on two legs. They came out of the barn and cut us to
pieces with swords.” The man said.
“And Jones you say there were about a dozen of these things?” the captain said.
“Yes, sir”.
Just then the phone on the captains desk rang, he picked it up. “Captain McMillian,
station house 8”, he said. “Yes, sir it appears that something or someone has killed a
patrol of a dozen men. Yes, I will investigate as soon as possible.” The captain put the
phone down. To himself he said,”I guess I won’t be making Mrs. McMillians dinner
tonight”. Then with his full voice “Haggis I want a full section! Jones try and get
yourself together I want you to lead me back to the scene”.
